International Reggae artiste from Jamaica, Jah Kettle, is currently in Toronto, Canada filming his first music video for the year. The video is scheduled for release in September 2020 and follows a recent wave of airplay in Jamaica (Irie FM) and the UK as his song “Hotta Than Dem“ ft. Junior Reid continues to garner attention and acclaim around the globe.
His latest music video shoot is for his upcoming release “Pan Di Bass” on the YB Riddim, produced by Young Boss, hailing from Jamaica. Also joining Jah Kettle with tunes on the YB Riddim, are deejays and singjays from both Jamaica and Toronto including Miz Trizz and Singing King.
The “Pan Di Bass” official music video will be fully produced by Time2Rize Media, a Toronto-based media company known for producing music videos for afro-caribbean artists in Canada and the US. Jah Kettle will be working closely with video director Tygon Cowan to bring the vision for “Pan Di Bass” to life.

Though any hopes of an early exit from federal prison in the United States have been all but quashed, Grammy-winning singjay, Buju Banton continues to find ways to keep himself busy as he serves the final three-and-a-half years of his 10-year sentence on drug charges.
The singer, who is currently housed at a facility in Georgia has been pursuing a Master’s degree while behind bars. However, still passionate about his first love, Buju was recently pictured performing with a small band for fellow prisoners. A Jamaican flag can be seen in the picture, which made the rounds on social media this past weekend.
These visuals brought a smile on the faces of his fans, including on this supporters’ page, who have been dreaming of his return to the music scene for some time. Fellow entertainer, Bounty Killer also weighed in on the picture on his official Instagram page with the message, “BUJU BANTON Performing live last week inside the facility keeping the spirit alive blessings goes out to him and his family the Jamaican flag visual too patriotic #FreeBuju and #GiveKartelhisappeal #freedomisamust”
While in prison, Buju song releases have been few and far between, unlike fellow incarcerated Jamaican musician, Vybz Kartel. Penthouse Records producer/CEO, Donovan Germain recently revealed that his label is holding on to a lot of material the entertainer recorded prior to his legal troubles as a measure of quality control, ensuring fans only get the best of the legendary artist.
Buju recently waived all rights to appeal his conviction on drug charges after law enforcement officials warned that a gun charge that was previously thrown out during his sentencing would be reinstated had he gone through with it.
After several years away from the mainstream music scene due to the fulfilling of military duties in the United States, dancehall artist Zumjay has returned to the spotlight, performing his first live show in several years at Club Ciboney in Poughkeepsie, New York.
The show entitled Jealous Ova, which took place last Saturday also featured emerging dancehall sensation, Dexta Daps and production heavyweights, Daseca, who backed Zumjay on the turn tables. The deejay, who burst onto the scene in the early 2000s, went back in time for a packed house at the club as he delved into hits such as Zumjay News and Shake It as well as Rise It Up and emotionally-charged performance of the uplifting single, Live On, which the crowd sang along to.
During the performance, Zumjay talked some about his experience in the United States Army Reserve, whom he joined in 2009 as an alternative to provide for his family while studying for a video technology degree at the Borough of Manhattan Community College. He mentioned his tour of duty while in the Reserves in the Middle East, where he told the audience, “Never give up on your dreams no matter how hard life may seem,” before performing his song, In God We Trust.
The show was hailed as a success on social media and by the entertainer himself.
Zumjay reportedly has more performances lined up for the remainder of 2015, including one alongside Bling Dawg this November.
Six months after his arrest and subsequent charges in an ongoing lottery scam case in the United States, acclaimed Jamaican producer, Anju Blaxxx has been released from a North Dakota jail on bail as he awaits a trial on the matter.
The musician and head honcho of UIM Records, whose real name is Andrew Myrie, was let go earlier this week, according to a report from IRIE FM. It is unknown whether the conditions of his bail allow him to leave the country.
Myrie was initially granted bail shortly following his arrest in February. However, that bail was revoked after he was considered a flight risk by a North Dakota judge.
The producer faces charges of conspiracy, wire fraud, and money laundering in relation to an alleged lottery scam which defrauded elderly citizens in North Dakota and across the U.S. of millions of dollars in exchange for promised lottery winnings.
Former ZIP FM disc jock, ZJ Wah Wa plead guilty to telemarketing fraud in a similar case last fall and reportedly implicated Myrie during his plea agreement.
During his jail stint, Myrie released the Mildew Riddim, which features artists such as Popcaan, Bugle, Blak Diamon and others.
The house-inspired remix of Omi’s smash hit, Cheerleader continues to build steam on the Billboard Hot 100, on the verge of history as it has reached number two on the chart.
Cheerleader has been steadily climbing the chart since the spring when it first appeared at 95 in May before jumping all the way up to number 11 just a month later. Hailed recently as the ‘song of the summer dark horse’ by Billboard.com, the Felix-Jaehn produced remix of Omi’s track only trails Wiz Khalifa’s See You Again (feat. Charlie Rush) on the chart.
If Omi can overtake Wiz at the top spot, he’d be the first Jamaican act to achieve such a feat since Sean Paul in 2006 with Temperature.
Cheerleader’s fast rise on the U.S. charts follows its strong run in other countries, topping charts in Australia, Sweden, France and the United Kingdom.
The Felix-Jaehn remix of Cheerleader was released in 2014, nearly three years after the original version of the song was released.
