Jamaican songstress, Tessanne Chin is seeing immediate results after releasing her sophomore studio album, Count on my Love as the 10-track set hit the top 10 on the iTunes charts just hours after its release on Tuesday.
The album, her first since winning season five of the American talent show, The Voice last December, peaked at number six on the iTunes Top 100 albums chart Tuesday afternoon, trailing only Robin Thicke, Ed Sheeran, Sam Smith, Magic! And Hillsong Worship. By the end of Tuesday, Chin’s compilation was tenth on the chart.
Chin expressed shock at how fast the album garnered such buzz, posting a snapshot of the iTunes chart on her Instagram page with the message, “Oh snap!!! #CountOnMyLove #OutNow #itunes #walmart thank you all so much!!! I couldn’t even begin to do this without you. #SoGrateful,”
Count on my Love is Chin’s major label debut under the Republic Records imprint, a syndicate of Universal Music Group. Two singles, Tumbling Down and Everything Reminds Me of You have been released from the album since the end of last year, performing them across various stage shows, talk shows and other TV appearances since winning The Voice.
The album features production and songwriting efforts from Supa Dups, Rock City, Diane Warren, Toby Gad, Mark ‘Exit’ Goodchild, Jerry ‘Wonda’ Duplessis, Stargate, Shama ‘Sak Pase’ Joseph and Shaun Pizzonia aka Sting International. It also features a mix of pop and Reggae elements and has received positive feedback from critics in the early going.
Count on my Love is the follow-up to her independently-released album, In Between Words in 2010.
Chin is currently on tour across the United States with her former cast mates from season five of The Voice. The tour, dubbed The Voice Summer Tour 2014, began in San Antonio on June 21 and will conclude on August 2 in Washington.
