Jamaicans are breathing a collective sigh of relief as multitalented songstress, Tessanne Chin has advanced to the final 12 of BC’s hit talent show, The Voice.

The Kingston-born singer was one of two from her team headed by coach Adam Levine voted past the first phase of the live performance round, joining American singer, James Wolpert. Both Chin and Wolpert were spared of the agony of being amongst the three singers left to face Levine, as he was left with the choice of choosing between Preston Pohl, Will Champlin and Grey.

Ultimately, it was Champlin who received the vote of confidence from Levine to move on.

Prior to the voting, Tessanne and her teammates performed a rendition of the Capital Cities song, Safe and Sound to rousing approval.

Tessanne earned her votes following a moving, high octave performance of Many Rivers To Cross, the classic single by her mentor, Jimmy Cliff. She was considered by many analysts to be the headline performer of the night during her set Monday. Additionally, her rendition of Cliff’s song charted as high as 27th on the iTunes charts prior to the end of voting Tuesday morning.

The Top 12 will perform on Nov. 11 and Nov. 12 respectively as they compete for eight spots in the next phase of the live performance phase.

The momentum garnered by accomplished Jamaican singer, Tessanne Chin continues to build as she advanced to the live performance round of the popularNBC talent show, The Voice Monday night.

Much like the battle round, Tessanne had to compete against a member of her own team, led by Adam Levine, to advance. This time, however, this would be a one-on-one matchup rather than a joint performance, like she had with veteran pop/jazz singerDonna Allen two weeks prior.

After a less-than-stellar practice session, Tessanne was determined to give her all and then some as she took on American singer/songwriter, Ashley DuBose in the knockout phase. After DuBose gave a very commendable rendition of Train’s hit song, Hey Soul SisterTessannewas left with the task of one-upping her formidable opponent with a rendition of Kelly Clarkson’s chart-topping hit, Stronger.

Any trepidations prior to her performance were immediately knocked down for the count as Tessanne’s strong vocal clarity, breathing ability and stage presence were on point throughout the nearly two-minute set.

The Jamaican singer’s ability to own the song in the moment and rise to such a challenge effortlessly made her stand out in the judges’ minds, with judge, Christina Aguilera particularly amazed, stating she ‘made it sound easy.’ In the end, Adam Levine decided to stick withTessanne, giving her clearance to advance to the live performance round, which kicks off in November.

As she prepares for this all-important stage of the competition, she is promoting her newly-released single,Anything’s Possibleone of the standout songs on theChimney Records-produced Rising Sun Riddim.
