Vybz Kartel blasts Popcaan and Tommy Lee, calls them ‘undignified morons’

Dancehall superstar, Vybz Kartel continues to lambaste his former prodigies, Tommy Lee Sparta and Popcaan after recently being acquitted of murder and gun-related charges in one of his murder case.

by

After being acquitted of a murder charge in the shooting death of a St. Catherine businessman last week, embattled Dancehall superstar, Vybz Kartel is holding nothing back as he has given the clearest indication yet of where his allegiances lie.

This past weekend, the self-professed ‘Worl’ Boss’ issued a statement addressing last week’s not guilty verdict in the Barrington ‘Bossie’ Burton murder case while thanking his family, fans and legal team for their support throughout his incarceration.

“First of all I would like to thank my legal team,Finson and Associates for proving and maintaining my innocence,” he said. “I would also want to thank all my fans for being there with me and for their continued support musically, making me forever relevant to dancehall. Last but not least I want to thank my family, in particular my baby mother SHORTYGAZA who is and has always been the tower of strength in my life. Taking care of our three sons and handling my financial affairs plus being so focused amidst a sea of ‘crosses’ and tribulations. Just want the fans to know they should remain confident that Vybz Kartel will soon ‘Duh Road’ and that I am physically and spiritually great.”

“On a different note, a lot of people are speculating that I am internet capable but nothing could be further from the truth. Apart from my twitter page ‘iamthekartel’ which is being run by Michael Dawson for the time being, everyone else is an imposter,” he continued.

However, the standout section of Kartel’s statement came when he blasted protégés, Tommy Lee Sparta andPopcaan for what he calls a lack of loyalty. With reports surfacing in recent months regarding a possible rift between Kartel and his former prodigies, Kartel admonished the pair for their alleged actions.

“Can someone tell Popcaan and Tommy Lee stop big me up pon stage saying they’re GAZA when they’re not even near to my recently acquired PLAZA,” he said “They have no shame and could only be compared to undignified morons. They and I know that they are just a couple of traitors grabbing at the proverbial straw to save their downward spiraling careers.”

Kartel then signed out by paying homage to those who he believes have stayed true to the ‘Gaza’ cause, saying “Yea the forever controversial worl’boss,” “BIGUP ME BREDDA SHAWN STORM. BIGUP GAZA SLIM AND BIGUP GAGE. I’m out…WORL’BOSS.”

Despite last Wednesday’s not guilty ruling, Vybz Kartel remains in custody at the Horizon Remand Centre as he awaits a November trial date in the Clive ‘Lizard’ Williams murder case. Kartel, Shawn Storm and four others men are accused in participating in the August 2011 killing of Williams at a Havendale residence.

Kartel, Vanessa ‘Gaza Slim’ Saddler and Andre ‘Pim Pim’ Henry are accused of conspiracy in connection to the Williams case.

Scotiabank Extends its Title Sponsorship of Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival for three years

July 4, 2013  (Toronto) The Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival kicked off today with music and dancing at the Ontario Science Centre.  MPP Laura Albanese, (York South-Weston) Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Tourism, Culture and Sport helped unveil the Scotiabank Caribbean Carnival 2013 campaign this morning.

The Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival will run from July 9, 2013 to August 4, 2013, and once again bring the culture of the Caribbean to over a million spectators in downtown Toronto. The public launch will take place onJuly 9, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at Toronto’s Nathan Phillip’s Squarewhere dancers, musicians, and calypso singers will get the city into the Carnival spirit.

“The funding from our sponsors means that the Festival can continue to deliver new and exciting events again this year,” said Scotiabank TorontoCaribbean Carnival CEO Denise Herrera-Jackson.  “We are changing how the big parade will be run due to the construction on the CNE grounds which will give more opportunities for spectators inside the park grounds to see our colourful parade.  Once again, funds raised at our events will be donated to four community charities – The Children’s Breakfast Club, The Caribbean Children’s Foundation, Prostate Cancer Canada and Sickle Cell Awareness Group of Ontario.”

“In 2008, we became title sponsor of the Scotiabank Toronto Caribbean Carnival — the largest North American Caribbean festival of its kind.  I’m proud to say that once again, Scotiabank has extended our partnership for another three years,” said Christine Williams, Scotiabank Vice President, Toronto East District. “This partnership started an exciting new chapter for Scotiabank because the Caribbean is where the Bank’s international story began.”

“For the fourth year, we are happy to sponsor the Ontario Science Centre Innovative Costume Award which recognizes innovation in costume design,” said Lesley Lewis, CEO of the Ontario Science Centre. “There’s a foundation of science behind the beauty and creativity of each and every costume. From the mathematics involved in the design, the physics involved in how the costumes move to the mechanics and engineering involved in the structural integrity for the larger, more elaborate pieces.”

The Toronto waterfront Carnival parade, taking place on August 3rdis expected to draw over a million people down to Toronto’s CNE grounds. This year the staging area for the 16,000 costumed masqueraders and floats is being moved to the north-end of the CNE property.  The parade will travel the width of the CNE grounds before entering Lakeshore Blvd, giving the festival more space to accommodate spectators.
