Eight years ago, Tessanne Chin landed her mainstream breakthrough with the chart-topping hit, Hideaway, seemingly sending the beautiful songstress on her way to superstardom. Now, the Jamaican singer may be set to attain something which could blow that achievement out of the water after a stunning performance on NBC’s The Voice Tuesday night.

Though Chin has been established in Jamaica for quite some time, the Messenger hit maker recently opted to tryout for season five the popular American talent show asshe gave a blind audition to its judges: Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee’Lo Green and Christina Aguilera. What resulted was the biggest pop offered by the crowd during the two-hour show, which had all four judges turn around almost instantly as Chin gave a chill-inducing rendition of Pink’s single, Try.

With her father on hand as well as her husband, Michael Cuffe Jr., Chin was moved to tears as Levine, theMaroon 5 front man instantly tipped her as a possible winner of the competition. All four judges lauded Chin on her vocal range, humility and confidence while even asking her to speak a little of her native tongue.

After the exchanges, Chin would then choose Levine as her coach for the season, insisting she wants to work on her vocal strength and propel herself to the next frontier.

Tessanne tweeted her excitement afterwards, saying, “Just getting a chance to read through all of your kind wonderful words!!! Thank you every one!!! I am speechless!!! That’s all I can say.” She also received additional complimentary tweets from Levine and Aguilera as well as fellow Jamaican entertainment personalities.

Chin will now move on to the battle rounds, where she will be performing alongside another team member selected by Levine, before one is selected to move on. Should she advance through the initial eliminations, she will then advance to the live performance segment.

The last person left standing at the end of season five will be declared ‘The Voice’ and wins a recording contract with an American label while also securing victory for their respective coach.
