Rarely will a musical production merge elements of various genres and sounds to produce a quality Riddim that will offer songs with different messages that connect to fans. However, one Canadian based Dancehall producer has found the right combination for his newly released project.
Andrew ‘Faze’ Greyson’s Fizzle Productions, in collaboration with Treajah Isle Studios has unveiled theDreams Riddim, featuring a strong lineup of emerging Dancehall and Reggae acts based in Canada. With strong instrumentals and a mixture of Reggae, Dancehall and classical elements, the Dreams Riddim showcases tracks representing aspects of each genre.
Perhaps the most thought provoking single on the Riddim comes from rising Dancehall singjay, Alty-B with his single,Can’t Believe. This ‘based on a true story’ type effort was done in dedication to a close friend of his whose life was tragically cut short due to gun violence. Can’t Believedisplays Alty-B’s raw emotion as he once again solidifies his lyrical content with meaning and legitimacy as he ascends within the Dancehall/Reggae ranks both in Canada and in Jamaica; earning airplay in both countries.
Additionally, the Dreams Riddim features former JUNO Award nominee, Tonya P who shows off her acclaimed singing credentials on the single, Stole Your Heart. The sensual love song speaks of women who’ve found their true love unexpectedly and captures the true essence of lover’s rock Reggae.
Meanwhile, Faze himself boasts a strong effort on his own production with Spotlight. Being a deejay in his own right, The Clarendon born musiciandelivers intriguing storytelling with Spotlight, telling the tale of a young girl who was jaded by the bright lights; foregoing the teachings that her parents passed on as she struggles to make it on her own. Also, Jah Chosen speaks of a tough life growing up and the general struggles of surviving in the projects with his single, Woke Up This Morning while Eyesus does an inspirational track for fathers who play instrumental roles in their child’s development with, Daddy Is Home.
The Dreams Riddim, whichalso features 5 Star and Fire Lion, has garnered strong buzz since its April release and has become a fixture on Canadian and Jamaican radio stations. It also adds another achievement to the strong early resume of Fizzle Productions, which includes the Party Swag Riddim, Good Days Riddim and the Dancefloor Riddim, which features other emerging Jamaican acts based in Canada such as Exco Levi and Tiffie.
